Coming soon - 2008 RFID/Wireless Healthcare/Pharma Symposium, October 15, 2008. For further information email:healthcare@winmec.ucla.edu
We are pleased to announce a special Healthcare Technology Forum - Wireless, RFID and I.T. on October 17th alongside our Annual RFID Executive Conference. At this forum leaders in Healthcare will speak on their Wireless, RFID and Electronics research activities and how these technologies are benefiting their enterprises. This forum is linked to UCLA-WINMEC's RFID research (http://winmec.ucla.edu/rfid) and to WINMEC's RFID/Wireless for Healthcare/Medicine Quality Research Program.
Wireless, RFID and Information Technologies are being increasingly used in healthcare for monitoring health of patients, keeping track of medical equipment, finding nurses or doctors in hospitals, tracking blood for blood banks, tracking e-pedigree of drugs, prevention of counterfeit of medicines, etc. Benefits of using these technologies in hospitals include improvement of healthcare quality, cost reduction, medication error reduction, increased operational efficiency, improved billing accuracy, rapid location of assets/personnel, increased through-put of patients, reduction in counterfeit medications, etc.
The technologies of Wireless, RFID and I.T. systems that support the Healthcare Industry are therefore getting the attention of Chief Medical Officers, Healthcare Chief Information Officers, Chief Enterprise Risk Officers, Quality Improvement Directors, and, Medical Practitioners at Hospitals, Healthcare providing organizations, Insurance Companies, Health Quality monitoring organizations, Pharmacies, etc. While these technologies connect to the last mile, the data they generate is put to use along with the medical process flow and healthcare business logic along with various database-enabled secure systems such as Electronic Health Records or Electronic Medical Records (EHR, EMR) to provide value to the healthcare organization and their employees. The WINMEC Healthcare/Medicine initiative aims to bring together U.S.-based leaders in Healthcare to share ideas on how Wireless/RFID/information technologies can help this industry over the next 10 years.
